The America 250 | CT Commission invites the people of Connecticut to provide feedback as we approach the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.
2023 Arts Workforce Initiative (AWI) Intent to Apply Application Extension
We are currently accepting submissions of an Intent to Apply from non-profit arts organizations seeking to be an AWI Host Organization.
AWI Host Organizations provide apprentices with hands-on and engaging learning experiences in arts administration, visual arts, arts presenting/curating, media arts, performing arts, visual arts, arts education and literary arts.
WCSU’s 100@100 Off-The-Wall Art Exhibition & Fundraiser
Artwork for this event will be on public view beginning Thursday, Feb. 9, during the Gallery’s regular hours, Tuesday – Friday from noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 1 to 4 p.m., except holidays and days that WCSU is closed. The 100 works of original art are created by 100 professional local and regional artists including WCSU Department of Art faculty and alumni.
We’re Looking for Innovative and Creative High School Students!
The Milton Fisher Scholarship for Innovation and Creativity is a FOUR-YEAR SCHOLARSHIP of up to $20,000 (up to $5,000 per year for four years). It is open to HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS AND SENIORS and COLLEGE FRESHMEN in Connecticut and the New York Metropolitan area, as well as students from outside the region going to college in Connecticut or the New York City area.
Seasonal Positions Available at CT Museums
The State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is seeking Museum Guide Summer Workers to be stationed at one or more of the four museums operated by the DECD: Eric Sloane Museum (Kent), Old New-Gate Prison & Copper Mine (East Granby), Prudence Crandall Museum (Canterbury), and the Henry Whitfield State Museum (Guilford).

WCSU Presents Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Allegro” and Talkback with Andy Hammerstein
Western Connecticut State University’s Department of Theatre Arts presents Rodgers and Hammerstein’s original musical “Allegro,” an early creation from these Broadway legends that first premiered in 1947 and is not often staged. Additionally, a talkback with Ted Chapin, Broadway producer and former president of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, and Andy Hammerstein, author, lecturer and grandson of Oscar Hammerstein II, will occur following the closing performance on Sunday, March 5, free for ticketholders.
Arts Workforce Initiative Information Session
The CT Office of the Arts (COA) will host an information session on the Arts Workforce Initiative on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 6:30 pm via ZOOM. Since 2017, the Arts Workforce Initiative (AWI) has provided hands-on work experience in the arts to diverse, traditionally underrepresented and talented individuals throughout the state of Connecticut.

Are you an artist in need of critical medical, mental health, or dental treatment? The Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grants program provides one-time grants of up to $5,000 for recent, unexpected medical, dental, and mental health emergencies experienced by artists in financial need.
Hangama Amiri in the New York Times
We are thrilled to share that Hangama Amiri, whose exhibition A Homage to Home opened at The Aldrich on February 5th, is profiled in today’s New York Times.
WCSU Offers Sip & Paint, Artist Lectures and Art Exhibition to the Community
Chie Fueki, a Japanese American painter, earned her M.F.A. at Yale School of Art and her B.F.A. at Ringling College of Art and Design, and is a recipient of a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship and the Joan Mitchell Fellowship and other multiple art awards and prizes. Her work is represented by Shoshana Wayne Gallery in Los Angeles, where she will have a solo exhibit in March, and by DC Moore Gallery in New York City, where she held a solo exhibit in 2022.
