Homeschoolers have a new creative writing course!

Muse Squad , a creative writing program just for kids, unites with Learning Streams , an alternative education center in Bethel, Connecticut. The whimsical facility is located at 145 Grassy Plain Street. The class meets twice a week, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 11 AM – 12:30 PM, May 17 – June 16.

The non-profit organization was founded by Sarah Lawrence graduate, Brittney Richardson. “Miss Brittney”  will teach her creative writing course to homeschooled kids ages 12 – 14. Adrianne Roberts , the founder and executive director of the Bethel homeschool supplement program, reflects on the experience of her blooming business, “Learning Streams at Sunflower Studio LLC has been a labor of love, a heartfelt project to give children a safe space to grow, thrive, and develop a love of learning.”

The spring session of Muse Squad at Learning Streams is open for registration . Kids can bring a notebook and a snack, and should come ready to chase their imagination. Each class examines passages from the beloved classic, Alice in Wonderland. After completing the original curriculum, students will have the start of a novel, short story, or several standalone pieces to put in their writing portfolio. The program concludes with a final reading and reception open to family and friends.

Muse Squad’s mission is to give kids a club-based creative writing program inspired by the Master of Fine Arts experience, where they can build skills and make friends, while harnessing their imagination. Part two of our mission is to produce job opportunities for MFA graduates and teachers, thus instituting a fun new employment lane for writers and a much-needed extracurricular activity for children.
