My paintings look into the disintegration of my childhood memories. Using oil and acrylic, I create backgrounds stereotypical of school photos, in which faux-collaged items, broken toys and objects represent events and memories in my life. The deterioration of my memories from childhood, as well as the physical decay of the toys that permeate these memories, is inevitable. As I recollect these eroding memories, I am inadvertently interjecting false details and even fabricating events that have never occurred. Physical evidence of these memories still exists but given the finite nature of both memory and object, I’m constantly re-writing my own history in my paintings.
