Specializing in the captivating style of Huapango. The term “Huapango” originates from the Nahuatl word “cuaupanco,” signifying “atop wood,” referencing the wooden platform where the mesmerizing zapateado dance is performed to enhance its percussive sound. Huapango has its roots in 17th Century mestizo culture in Mexico, emerging from the confluence of Spanish, African, and Creole musical elements with the Huasteca region, often referred to as “son huasteco.” Huapango encompasses various styles across Mexico, including arribeño, norteño, huasteco, and huapango de mariachi.

We’re gathering local businesses to celebrate and recognize the outstanding contributions made by individuals and organizations in supporting the arts. Our annual signature breakfast provides a unique opportunity to network with like-minded individuals, business leaders, and artists who share a passion for promoting and sustaining the arts. The Awards Breakfast will feature engaging presentations, captivating performances, and heartfelt speeches from renowned artists and community leaders. It’s a chance to gain insights into the transformative power of the arts and how it contributes to the growth and vibrancy of our community.

BSA AWARD. Presented to a mid-sized or large business and the most prestigious award given for exemplary giving practices to the arts. A funder of the arts and has a broad impact to art and culture throughout the Greater Danbury area.

ARTS IN THE COMMUNITY AWARD. Presented to a local small business or entrepreneur who is a funder of the arts in their local community. Their support encourages and finds innovative ways to leverage the arts to build and sustain a vibrant, healthy, and creative community that fosters economic development.

HEART OF THE ARTS AWARD. The Mary Rindfliesh Heart of the Arts Award is presented to an outstanding volunteer for their extraordinary efforts and contribution made to nurture arts and culture and increase quality of life in their community.

ARTS IMPACT LIFE AWARD. Presented to a nonprofit or for-profit business who incorporates the arts to significantly impact the quality of life for their constituents and the people they serve or do business for.
