BRIDGES: Western CT Creative Reflection on 250 Years

In 2026, the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, a major milestone and a moment to reflect on who we are, how we got here, and the kind of future we’re shaping.

Here in Western Connecticut, we’re marking the occasion in our own way.

BRIDGES is a regional storytelling and creative initiative led by the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut. This project isn’t just about looking back. It’s about amplifying voices that haven’t always been heard. It’s about honoring the present, our people, our cultures, and our creative community.

We’re inviting artists and arts & culture organizations across the region to share their stories. That could be a reflection, a creative work, or a public program that speaks to this historic moment. Whether you’re a painter, poet, musician, curator, or cultural leader, your voice matters. Your work helps us understand our shared identity, our journey, and our vision for what’s next.

The BRIDGES publication will feature stories that explore themes of identity, resilience, and belonging. It will spotlight organizations that build bridges across generations, cultures, and communities. And it will show how creativity continues to connect us and move us forward.

In addition, we’re building a regional calendar of events tied to the 250th celebration. If you’re planning a public program, an exhibit, performance, talk, or festival, we want to include it.

How to Get Involved

If you’re an artist or part of an arts and cultural organization, we invite you to contribute to the BRIDGES storytelling project. The theme is presence, resilience, and connection.
