WCSU’s Department of Art is part of the School of Visual and Performing Arts, along with Music and Theatre. Located in the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the university’s Westside campus, the Department hosts studios for Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Graphic Design, Illustration and Photography for both undergraduate and graduate programs, and has its own art gallery. Through the Gallery the WCSU Department of Art is committed to providing students and residents of Danbury and surrounding communities an accessible cultural resource that exhibits teaching faculty, graduate and undergraduate students and professional local and regional artists. The Gallery is used as a teaching tool to enhance the educational experiences of WCSU students and provides unique opportunities for students to participate in the behind-the-scenes gallery operations while working alongside accomplished artists.
