Western Connecticut State University’s Department of Theatre Arts presents a unique holiday show “Season’s Greetings” Dec. 2 – 4 at the university’s Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) on the Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension, Danbury. Additionally, WCSU will host musical performance “Holiday Pops” Dec. 10 and 11. Tickets to both can be purchased at wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com.

“Season’s Greetings,” written by Alan Ayckbourn, is about how a group of people gathering to celebrate Christmas also have to deal with squabbles, a shooting, a midnight tryst, mechanical Christmas toys and puppet show. It is recommended for ages 12 and up. The play is directed by Tony Award-winning Broadway and TV performer Cady Huffman. She is perhaps best known for her Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award-winning performance as Ulla in “The Producers” on Broadway opposite Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, her recurring role on HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and her 10-season turn as a judge on the Food Network’s “Iron Chef America.”

Performances of  “Seasons Greetings” at the MainStage Theatre in the VPAC are Friday, Dec. 2, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 3, at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 4, at 2 and 7 p.m. (understudy performance). Tickets range from $20-$30 plus fees online at wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com.

“Holiday Pops,” a concert sponsored by the WCSU Department of Music, features holiday music selections by WCSU performing ensembles including Percussion Ensemble, University Choir, Chamber Ensembles, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and more. Tickets are available online for $10 plus fees or $15 at the door, and donations are accepted, as all proceeds benefit the Ana Grace Marquez Greene and Dave Smith Scholarship Funds. Showtimes are Saturday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. Additionally, the WCSU Department of Art will sponsor a Holiday Ceramics Sale, with all pieces created by WCSU student-artists, in the lobby of the VPAC from 2 to 6 p.m.
