WCSU Offers Multiple Musical Performances

Western Connecticut State University’s Department of Music presents a season of live musical performances at the university’s Visual and Performing Art Center (VPAC) in the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall, 43 Lake Ave. Extension, Danbury. All shows are open to the public, and tickets can be purchased in advance at wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com.

From opera to symphonic band, piano recitals and orchestras, and including shows featuring wind and percussion ensembles, concert choirs and chamber singers, WCSU students and faculty perform unforgettable, professional-quality productions that audiences will enjoy.

Shows for the 2022 fall season include:

  • Piano Studio Recital: Sunday, Nov. 6, at 3 – 4:30 p.m. Online tickets are $7 plus fees; tickets purchased at the door are $10.
  • Opera Scenes: Friday, Nov. 11, and Saturday, Nov. 12, at 7 – 8:30 p.m. Online tickets are $10 plus fees; tickets purchased at the door are $15. The WCSU Opera Ensemble performs favorite opera scenes and excerpts.
  • Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band: Sunday, Nov. 13, at 3 – 5 p.m. Online tickets are $10 plus fees; tickets purchased at the door are $15.
  • Jazz Combos with guest Aaron Goldberg on piano: Friday, Nov. 18, at 7 – 8:30 p.m. Online tickets are $10 plus fees.
  • Chamber Singers and University Choir: Saturday, Nov. 19, at 3 – 5 p.m. Online tickets are $7 plus fees; tickets purchased at the door are $10.
  • WCSU Orchestra and Concert Chorale: Saturday, Dec. 3, at 3 – 5 p.m. Online tickets are $7 plus fees; tickets purchased at the door are $10.
  • Percussion Ensemble: Sunday, Dec. 4, at 3 – 4:30 p.m. Online tickets are $7 plus fees; tickets purchased at the door are $10.
  • Holiday Pops: Saturday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 – 5 p.m. Online tickets are $10 plus fees; tickets purchased at the door are $15, and donations are accepted, as all proceeds benefit the Ana Grace Marquez Greene and Dave Smith Scholarship Funds. This concert features holiday music selections by WCSU performing ensembles including Percussion Ensemble, University Choir, Chamber Ensembles, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and more.
