My dancing life began with Modern Dance at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance at age 5, followed by a bit of ballet, which has continued to be one of my loves. After no formal dance training for many years, I came across International folk dancing while at Antioch College and danced most Friday nights. I kept dancing IFD after my move to CT to attend graduate school. Then I discovered contra dancing in the mid-1980s and fell absolutely in love with the Celtic & French Canadian music.
