Born and raised by the sea in the magical town of Sag Harbor on the very Eastern End of Long Island is where I draw so much of my inspiration from. I love to explore new mediums and methods, and find myself mixing and experimenting much like a magician with what feels right. I am drawn to luminous surfaces and textures. Mosaic and encaustic meld beautifully and naturally for me, paired with image transfers. My work comes from a deeply expressive process, that connect others to the internal stories of place and time, and emotion. I enjoy putting lost and broken pieces together to create a whole, and new possibility in my artworks. Having studied mosaic in Venice at the Orosoni I learned traditional methods. Visiting the Ravenna Museum of Art, I beheld a contemporary mosaic exhibit that spoke to my aesthetic. My interest was truly ignited however, while learning from the living legend, Isaiah Zagar, creator of the Philadelphia Magic Gardens. I have melded my experiences and learning into a unique voice that is all my own, infused with my ancient melted wax paintings. I am honored to teach Visual Arts in the Bedford School District, where I am fueled by the passion and endless possibilities ofmy students and colleagues. I have initiated The heART Project, a community mosaic mural program, in my school district aimed to create beautiful art making experiences and murals. Feel free to visit my works online.
