Meet composer Danbury’s Eric Lewis, Lullaby Requiem

“There’s an infant part in our souls which longs for the lullaby truths of life…”  – poet Munia Khan
Looking to fill a musical void, Danbury composer Eric Lewis’ Lullaby Requiemexpected to premiere in 2019, is currently in its final stages of development as an eleven movement symphony with a full orchestral and choral score in English and Latin, featuring a children’s choir. Upon completion, it will be the only work of its kind to be composed in memory of all children who have died as a result of war, violence, and abuse throughout the ages. (see www.lullabyrequiem.com)
On Saturday, June 16th, 5:30pm to 8:00pm, a benefit reception will be held at an art-filled private home on Deer Hill Avenue in Danbury, CT, to raise funds in support of the completion and production of this transformative, healing tour de force.
Co-hosted by the Danbury Concert Association, the event will present the first public introduction to Lullaby Requiem, a highly anticipated addition to the contemporary musical canon. Eric Lewis, founder and first violinist of the Manhattan String Quartet and professor emeritus of Music, Western Connecticut State University, will be on hand to offer excerpts from this exciting new work as well as to provide insight about its inspiration and development. Wine and light refreshments will be served.
This benefit reception is made possible by the Danbury Concert Association, Pour Me Coffee & Wine Cafe, Noteworthy Chocolates, and the Danbury Music Centre. Special thanks to Graves Kiely. The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut serves as the fiscal sponsor for theLullaby Requiem.
