Art Exhibit, Featuring Lisa D’Amico, Artist | CIFC, 120 Main Street, Danbury, CT 06810
“Resin runs through my veins. I manipulate epoxy resin over my acrylic paintings to create visual stories about solitary souls. I begin each piece by choosing the subject then the colors and composition reflect the feeling. As I pour, the story solidifies on the surface and a dialogue begins. My works are similar to characters in a play that speak to me and guide me in creating their story. In every artwork there is an unspoken language, one we cannot hear but instead, feel. The challenge in creating this type of resin artwork is marrying the painting with the emotion. With each completed piece, my intent is to create a visual story and allow the viewer to feel its significance.”
About Lisa D’Amico, MFA, PhD
“Every new painting is a deep breath. A new beginning to tell a story using color and creativity.”
Translating and provoking emotions are the primary focuses of Lisa’s artwork. She strives to reproduce the varied facets of intensity through her deep fascination with color, and composition and the struggles that occur between them.
Her creative process usually begins with a series of sketches, which serve as her inspirational catalyst to canvas, paper or wood. Her techniques for the actual artwork often involve building up areas of color through the application of many layers of paint, latex, compounds and resin to achieve vibrant color effects and multitudes of texture.
Lisa is an ivy league educated artist and educator with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Fine Arts in addition to a Doctorate in Education. She is a NY and NJ certified art teacher with over 20 years teaching experience. She has been exhibiting her artwork since childhood and has received numerous awards and accolades along her journey. Her most recent honors are the Weir Masterpiece Award and the Visual Artist of the Year Award from the Arts Council of Rockland.
