Online Lecture – African American Suffragettes and Black Women Voters

Gloria J. Browne-Marshall will present an online Ridgefield Library lecture called African American Suffragettes and Black Women Voters on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. During this lecture Browne-Marshall reveals the story of Black women who battled against laws and a society prejudiced against their race and gender, overcoming these seemingly impossible odds as they rose from Black Suffragettes to present-day positions of political power. Gloria J. Brown-Marshall is a Professor of Constitutional Law at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY). She teaches classes in Constitutional Law, Race and the Law, Evidence, and Gender and Justice.
